What is a Beowulf?
A high performance parallel computing system built from commodity processors
- Named after the first such system build at NASA by Donald Becker, et. al.
- Typically x86 processors, but could be any hardware supported by Linux
- MIMD, NUMA, NOW, MPI, SSI
- Often connected by ethernet
An SMP system is not a Beowulf.
