MOUNTAIN BIKING

There are quite a few shops in the area that provide bicycle & mountain bike rentals, including Valley Board & Bike (Ski Broker) in Fraser & Winter Park, Ski Depot Sports, Epic Mountain Sports, both located in Winter Park, and the Trestle Bike Park Shop, located at the Winter Park Ski Resort.

AREA LAKES & BOATING

The Grand Lake area has a number of marinas and shops that offer boat, pontoon, and canoe rentals, including the Rocky Mountain Sports Shop, Beacon Landing Marina, Grand Elk Marina & Beach Club, Trail Ridge Marina, and Grand Lake Marina.

COLE CABIN

If you haven't seen the Cole Cabin, or even if you have, please stop by for a visit or tour. See Jeff's handiwork throughout the cabin (7 bedrooms), climb up to a treehouse, play in a mini log cabin, fly down a zip-line (young ones), shoot some hoops, take a steam bath, or just sit outside in the beautiful Colorado mountains enjoying lively conversation, cookies and lemonade!

 

 

 

 

FAMILY RECREATION

The Grand Park Community Recreation Center is a brand new recreation center located between Winter Park & Fraser. The facilities include a fitness center, running track, gymnasium, climbing wall, and aquatic center (pool, water-slide, lazy river). A short You Tube VIDEO is available if you'd like to see the recreation center.

Rocky Hi Speedway Fun Center is located in Grand Lake and provides go-kart racing, bicycle rentals, and arcade games.

Grand Lake Lanes, also located in Grand Lake, offers bowling, family fun, and pizza.

GOLFING

The Fraser Valley area provides four beautiful mountain golf courses where your golf ball will fly through the thin mountain air! Two of the golf courses, Headwaters Golf Course at Granby Ranch and Grand Elk Colorado Golf Course are located in the Granby area, while the Grand Lake Colorado Golf Course is located in Grand Lake, and the Pole Creek Golf Course is located just outside of Tabernash.

HORSEBACK RIDING

A variety of horseback rides (pony, wagon, trail, half-day, all-day, breakfast, and evening) are available through Devil's Thumb Ranch, just up the road from the Cole Cabin, Sombrero Ranches, with stables in Grand Lake and at Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA of the Rockies, and at the Winding River Resort, near Grand Lake.

HOT SULPHUR SPRINGS RESORT & SPA

The Hot Sulphur Springs Resort & Spa is located in Hot Sulphur Springs, and offers 21 mineral pools & baths. Admission costs for the outdoor pools are $11.50 for children (ages 3-12) and $17.50 for adults. The spa facilities offer massages, body treatments, facials, and waxing

 

 

 

 

MUSEUMS

Grand County has three museums which provide a history of the Fraser Valley area:

Cozens Ranch Museum & Stage Stop is located between Winter Park & Fraser. The Cozens house was a homestead built in 1874 on a ranch covering 700 acres, and was also used as a stage stop

Kauffman House Museum is located at Pitkin & Lake Avenue in Grand Lake. It was originally built in 1892 and was operated as a hotel until 1946 by the Kauffman family

Grand County Museum (Pioneer Village) is located in Hot Sulphur Springs. It provides a history of early pioneer life and includes many Indian artifacts

 

 

 

 

RIVER RAFTING

The Colorado River offers family whitewater rafting opportunities downstream of Kremmling. Two local companies that offer rafting trips are Red Tail Rafting, Inc and Adventures in Whitewater. There are also a few other companies, located closer to Kremmling, that provide rafting adventures, including Mad Adventures, Raven Adventure Trips, Colorado River Guides, and Colorado River Runs.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), located between Estes Park & Grand Lake, is a living showcase of the grandeur of the Rocky Mountains, with elevations ranging from 8,000 feet in the wet, grassy valleys, to 14,259 feet at the weather-ravaged top of Longs Peak. The Park provides opportunities for biking, hiking, camping, fishing, climbing, scenic drives, and wildlife viewing. The daily entrance fee for the Park is $20 per vehicle.

HIGH COUNTRY STAMPEDE RODEO

The High Country Stampede Rodeo, on the west side of Fraser, holds a rodeo and chuckwagon every Saturday evening during July and August. Events at the rodeo include bareback riding, barrel racing, breakaway roping, bull riding, the calf scramble, mutton bustin' (kids), pole bending, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, and tie-down roping.

WINTER PARK RESORT

The Winter Park Resort offers a number of family activities in the summer. These activities include: Alpine Slide, Zephyr Express Chairlift, Mini Golf, Amaze'n Human Maze, Outdoor Climbing Wall, GyroXtreme, Leaps & Bounds Bungee, and Trestle Bike Park.
